Welcome — I’m Jana.

I’m a Christian author, mentor, and teacher helping believers reflect God’s L.I.G.H.T. into the world—not through performance, but through identity in Christ and Spirit-led obedience.

I love the word of God, and as a speculative fiction and devotional author, I dig into God's Word to ensure I get it right. But it also means that I find or am given morsels of delight and understanding that I like to share with my readers.

These morsels are scattered throughout this website, but most are found in my Faith and Light Blog.

I've also begun writing Devotional Journals, both for publication and sharing with my readers. Those will be found in my Free Resources. This is the newest addition here, so it will grow over time.

Finally, I hope to build a small community of believers who desire to dig deeper into God's Word, especially in the area of prophecy and the End Times. That community, Using Words to Bring Light, is currently being built on my Substack portal. Please do come and join me.

At Faith, Fact, and Fiction, LIGHT isn’t just a concept. It is a Christ-centered pathway rooted in God’s initiating L.I.G.H.T.

  • LOVE, guided by the Spirit’s

  • INSPIRATION, entrusted through

  • GIFTEDNESS, sustained by

  • HOPE, and lived out through

  • TRANSFORMATION.

This framework inspires everything I write, teach, and share—from storytelling to discipleship.

Once this framework is complete, it will include an AuthorScribe Program to help young authors learn how to write under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

If you desire to grow in your faith, discern your purpose, or write with spiritual clarity and courage, you’re welcome here.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Children of Light Series

The Children of Light series is a collection of six Christian speculative novels set in a post-Rapture world. While the setting is apocalyptic, the heart of the story is deeply personal and spiritual.

These books follow ordinary people who are confronted with extraordinary responsibility. God entrusts Light—His gift—to a few, calling them to protect and guide a new remnant of believers.

Disciples of Light Series

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

Disciples of Light is a prophetic speculative fiction series that explores the cost, courage, and endurance of faith as the world drifts into darkness. The series traces the divergent paths of awakening, rebellion, and discipleship.

Some are drawn into the shadows of deception and power; others are refined through fire, perseverance, and the discipline of walking faithfully when God’s presence seems quiet.

From fragile beginnings to the ultimate silence in heaven, this series illuminates the enduring truth that light, once ignited, cannot be extinguished—no darkness, no trial, no counterfeit kingdom can overcome it.

Disciples of Light is a chronicle of endurance, witness, and hope, showing that true discipleship demands both choice and courage, and that the Light always prevails.

An Orange Ember is the inaugural book for the Disciples of Light Series.

This series is a continuation of the previous series, the Children of Light, but only in the sense that it is the next occurrence in the Bible of what happens after the Rapture. Some characters re-appear, with a host of new ones.

Disciples of Light is mostly in the Tribulation period.

An Orange Ember is focused on the 'birth' of the antichrist.

Just like all of us, every person has a beginning and a series of choices and decisions that shape who they are... who they become.

An Orange Ember

When Darkness Cannot Quench the Light

Sy and Dak Konig have spent their lives trapped beneath the cruelty of a father who ruled through fear. Desperate for freedom, they make a choice that changes everything.

As the ashes of their past settle, an unexpected future unfolds before them. Dak rises swiftly through the ranks of power, embracing opportunities he once only dreamed of. Sy, longing for love, security, and belonging, finds herself drawn into a life she never imagined possible.

But beneath the promise of success lies a darkness far deeper than either of them understands.

In a world shrouded in shadows, where ambition competes with truth and deception disguises itself as wisdom, unseen forces are at work. Every choice carries consequences. Every path leads somewhere. And even the smallest spark has the power to ignite a flame.

As destinies collide and loyalties are tested, Sy and Dak must confront the question that will define their lives:

Will they follow the darkness that calls to them... or the light that refuses to die?

A powerful story of faith, redemption, courage, and hope, An Orange Ember invites readers into a gripping journey where the battle between light and darkness is both deeply personal and eternally significant.

Set in the world of the Children of Light series, but written to be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

For readers of Frank E. Peretti and Ted Dekker, Christian speculative fiction, end-times fiction, spiritual warfare, and stories where faith shines brightest in the darkest places.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

DEVOTIONAL JOURNALS

These are a new adventure for me. I've focused on End-Times fiction for the past 9 years, but God has recently shown me that this should be a focus for me as well. For years, I've often written a brief devotional reflecting on a scripture verse I read that morning. The first were brief reflections, but in the last few years, they have evolved.

Since I have spent many years studying End-Times and Prophecy, my devotionals focus on this. Not to bring fear about what is to come, but rather to shine a light into God's amazing plan for us and His entire creation. My desire is to bring joy and hope into the reader's life.

These are called Devotional Journals because they not only provide a word for the day, but also allow those who love to journal to spend a few minutes on the scripture, my ramblings, or a response to a posed question.

SEALED is the first in what I pray will be a set of 3, or 4 or whatever God leads me to write.

I pray that you will gain some insight, truth, and hope as you read there.

Blessings.

SEALED: Who this is for

You were never meant to wonder where you belong.

Yet for many believers, faith can feel uncertain: questions linger, understanding feels incomplete, and assurance seems just out of reach.

As a child of God, as a follower of and believer in Jesus Christ as the Risen Son of God, you were sealed by Him.

You are forever His.

What does it truly mean to be sealed by God?

In Sealed, Jana Smith guides you through a 340-day devotional journey designed to move you from uncertainty into quiet, unshakable confidence in your identity in Christ.

Through Scripture, reflection, writing prompts, and intentional journaling, you will discover:

The meaning of the Holy Spirit as God’s seal. Freedom from fear and confusion about your identity. Discernment in a world filled with spiritual counterfeits. A deeper, steady assurance that you belong to God.

This is not a journey toward earning God’s love. It is a journey into recognizing that you already have it.

SEALED - A 30-day Journey of Resting in the Assurance You Belong To God

Are you truly secure in your faith… or quietly uncertain where you stand?

In a world filled with confusion about identity, truth, and the future, the biblical concepts of the Seal of God and the Mark of the Beast can feel overwhelming—even unsettling. Many believers avoid them altogether, unsure how to understand what Scripture is really saying.

But what if these truths were never meant to create fear…

What if they were meant to bring assurance?

In Sealed, Jana Smith invites you into a gentle, Scripture-rooted journey that moves beyond speculation and into quiet confidence. Through thoughtful teaching and a deeply reflective 30-day devotional experience, you will begin to understand what it truly means to belong to God—and how that truth reshapes everything.

Inside this devotional, you will discover:

  • What the Seal of God really is—and how it applies to you today

  • The difference between God’s seal and the Mark of the Beast, without fear-based teaching

  • How the Holy Spirit confirms your identity, security, and eternal future

  • Why you don’t need to strive to belong—you already do

  • How to live with discernment, peace, and confidence in uncertain times

With a calm and contemplative tone, this devotional creates space—not pressure. Space to reflect, to question, and to grow steadily in truth.

Each day includes Scripture (NIV), gentle insight, personal application, reflection, and journaling prompts designed to help you move from uncertainty into assurance.

This is not a book of predictions.

It is a journey of belonging.

If you have ever wrestled with questions about your identity in Christ, the end times, or your place in God’s plan, this devotional will help you rest in one unchanging truth:

You are not unclaimed.

You are not overlooked.

You are SEALED.
