Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Although Isaiah seems to be stretching things, we need to look at the intent behind these words. The message is, with God you can do anything. Through him you are invincible. With his presence by your side, with him going before you to prepare the way, you are Teflon. Nothing will stick to you, and if by some chance it does, just give it to the Lord.
In our busy lives and the world's push to adapt and accept all the world says and has to offer, it can be overwhelming. The burden of success by worldly standards is impossible to attain and keep your faith, your dignity and honor. The ways of the world are often destructive. The world does not want to know God, nor follow His ways. Why? Because the master of this world, Satan, wants us as far away from God as possible. He wants the trappings of the world to imprison us.
But, that is not what God wants for us. No! He wants us to be free. Jesus sets us free from the prison Satan constructed. Yes, it can be a very attractive prison, but it is a prison non-the-less. It only leads to eternal death. Hopelessness.
Isaiah, in the above passage, gives us comfort, for he is telling us that with God at our side, with Him walking before us to prepare the way, and with him covering us with His Wings, we are safe. We are protected. We are provided for. None of the trappings of the world will touch us. Or if they do, they can be washed off.
God's word tells you that you can get through everything the world throws at you.
How?
Give every issue to the Lord. No, I don’t mean agonize over it and then throw your hands up and then say, God I can’t.
You do it right away. As soon as it arises.
I mean, when you come up against anything that is beyond your capacity, beyond the strength you have at the moment, or whatever else, just say, “Lord help me. I cannot do this on my own, but with you all things are possible.” (Matt 19:26) Then get on with the task and see what happens.
Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
So, remember, you are teflon. God's shield and sword protect you from the enemy that only wants to imprison you and separate you from God.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But, be assured, nothing in this world can separate us from the love of God. The only way you can be separated from God, is by your own choice to reject Him.
So, trust God. Be transformed by His Word. Reflect His Light into this spiritually dark world.
